The end of exam season is in sight and that means it's finally time for summer! So in case you get bored of all the free time you have during the summer, here's some suggestions on what you can do in Edinburgh:
- Edinburgh Fringe Festival
The fringe is happening throughout August all over the city. There are lots of different events ranging from street performances to big shows. While some of the bigger shows might be a bit pricier I recommend checking out some of the free shows that are on. You can find out about them on the fringe website or just pick up some flyers while you're out, there's always someone handing them out while the fringe is on.
- Edinburgh Film Festival
This is for all the film enthusiasts out there. The Edinburgh film festival is on from the 21st June until the 2nd July this year and shows a variety of films. While the programme for this year isn't out yet, in the past there was something for everyone. Plus if you're lucky you might be able to catch a Q & A with one of the Directors.
Looking for something useful to do during the summer, why not do some volunteering? Most charity shops are always looking for volunteers and are super grateful if you can help them out, plus it looks great on your CV. Just pop into one of the many charity shops around Edinburgh and speak to the Volunteers they'll be able to tell you how to get involved.
- Relax on the beach
What better way to relax than to chill in the sun. There are lots of beaches you can choose from. While Portobello might be the obvious choice, why not be more adventurous and explore a new one like Cramond Beach.
Don't feel like staying in Edinburgh? Why not take a trip to the Highlands. There are lots of companies that offer reasonably priced day trips so it won't get too expensive.
